As my blog grows I always want to keep you all, the readers, in the loop of my life and share special moments with you! Last week I was asked by my best friend to spend the rest of my life with him, and of course I said yes! Here’s how it happened…
Mason and I have been dating almost 2 years. I knew he was going to be my husband since our first date at that dimly lit sushi restaurant. We’ve been discussing getting married and planning for 2-3 weeks already, your girl just needed her ring. Being the planner I am, not even 24 hours after we had discussed getting married this year I went ahead and bought my dream dress. Within 2 weeks Mason had his groomsman, we had a venue and the catering secured, honeymoon booked, and caked picked out. So….basically already engaged, but it was still a secret.
A couple of months ago I went and tried on engagement rings to see what I liked, I loved the first one I tried on and sent all of the info to Mason so he’d be set once the time came to propose. The past two weeks Mason’s family and I had kind of been begging him to propose already so we could finally start talking about the wedding with our friends and family (most of his family knew already). Any time I’d bring up anything about the ring Mason would tell me don’t worry about..which obviously didn’t make me bring it up any less.
Tuesday night, last week, while we were saying our goodbye’s, Mason asked to meet up for lunch at one of the local coffee shops (and the place where we first met) for lunch the next day. I didn’t think anything of it, and I agreed.
Side note: I had told Mason I wanted my fingernails to be painted when he proposed. That same Tuesday night Mason told me to paint my fingernails so we could shoot for the blog that Saturday. We hadn’t planned on shooting Saturday so I found that odd. But, that made me curious that he was maybe going to propose that Saturday. So, I set a reminder on my phone for that Thursday to be ready for Saturday. Needless to say…my nails weren’t painted when I got proposed to.
On Wednesday, I met Mason in the parking lot downtown to meet up for lunch. I go up to his car to greet him, and he grabs his camera and says, “I want to take a picture of you”. This is a normal thing, so I didn’t think anything of it. He snaps a few pics of me outside of the coffee shop and shows me the pictures. They’re completely over exposed and not good, and my response was,”What the heck dude? You can’t even see my face!”. Mason told me to go over a couple more pictures until I get to this picture…
I am now aware of what’s going on, as you can probably tell with this picture↓
Then, the moment I always tried to imagine in my head as a little girl finally happened. It was way better in real life, by the way.
To be honest, I don’t even remember anything Mason had said or asked me during the proposal. My mind seemed to have went blank. All I can remember is that everything felt so right and in that moment everything made sense. I couldn’t even try to dream up someone that is better for me than Mason. He’s my best friend, my supporter, my button-pusher and now my fiancé. I thank God for Mason each day, and I am beyond blessed to be this guy’s future wife. We’re getting married!!
I love you Mason.
