Green Dream

I’m currently loving exploring some different colors and brands, like this new Sister Jane jade green top. Green isn’t normally a color I’m drawn to, but I couldn’t resist this soft green top with the puffy sleeve and exaggerated pilgrim-style collar. What can I say, I’ve got a thing for cool sleeves and subtle statement touches (if that makes sense).

I’ve been searching for different brands to start incorporating into my closet. I love trying new brands and brands that aren’t necessarily as accessible. Of course I love the go-to’s like Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, H&M, etc…but as of late I’ve been enjoying finding brands that aren’t super mainstream. Sister Jane has been on my radar for a few months now and I know it’s a pretty popular UK brand but I don’t see a lot of bloggers posting a whole lot about the brand, which is kind of refreshing. It’s like I found my own little secret shop. I honestly love all of their designs and I want to wear everything. I’m a pretty frugal shopper so I really think about what pieces I’m going to put into my closet. I’ve been going back and forth on whether I wanted to spend some $$ on one of their pieces, I just couldn’t resist this beauty and had to have it. Plus, Sister Jane is constantly launching new collections so nothing gets stale and there’s always new pieces I’m wanting to grab. The quality and uniqueness makes me a fan of the brand.

I do about 95% of my clothes shopping online. I get super stressed and overwhelmed trying to shop in an actual store. And I also like the convenience of laying in my bed while shopping. A lot of people ask me how I shop online and my clothes always fit me, while most of the time they do, sometimes they don’t. Like in today’s outfit…

I’ve been searching since last year for a great cropped white jean that wasn’t super expensive. Well, I ordered this pair off of Zara and on the model they were the perfect cropped pant. The model was 5’10 and being 5’7 I thought the length wouldn’t be too much different. I was a little off.

Some of you might think this was a fail and I should return them, but I actually like the fit of them a lot. Even though the pants weren’t cropped like originally anticipated, I think they’re cool and are a look in and of themselves. I’m going to keep them and style them some different ways, they ended up being the perfect modern mom jean, which is super on trend!

I’m loving the subtle extra-ness of this look. The oversized buttons with the exaggerated pants is unexpected but still simple.

Vintage-Inspired Neutrals

I’ve got the vintage bug lately…

getting dressed has been fun for me again. I go through waves of loving my style and then not being sure what I love. But recently I’ve been loving unexpected fits with a classic feel and kind of playing “dress up”. When I take my looks to0 seriously or try to fit my style into what I think it should be, it loses it’s authenticity. Fashion’s all about trying new things but also sticking with what you know!

This look is the perfect example of polishly un-polished. The culottes and the smart white blouse are chic and fits of the pieces along with the flats give the perfect effortless touch.

We’re one week away from spring and I can’t wait to bust out all of the pretty pastels, but neutrals this time of year are also such a staple and shouldn’t be left out!

Basic Invite

The older I get the more excited I get to plan and cherish special days in my family’s life. Recently getting married and gaining a lot of new family members, that includes lots of birthdays, so good invites are a must.

Today I partnered up with Basic Invite to showcase some of their invitations. I was able to create these custom samples to start planning for events this year. Basic Invite is one of the few websites that allows you the ability to order a printed sample of  your actual invitation. This way you can see exactly how it will print as well as the paper quality before you place your final order.

I know during me and Mason’s engagement, it was scary to hit that ‘order’ button before seeing the finished product and the quality of the pictures on the invitations. Basic Invite takes the worry out of ordering your invitations! The paper is sturdy and the pictures came out super clear and crisp.

I loved how Mason’s birthday invitation came out, and Basic Invite has so many formal birthday invitation options to choose from.

Can’t forget the thank-you’s!

Now that I’m married and our family will one day grow, I’m happy to have a one stop invitation/card spot for the future. You can pick from over 250 Christmas & Holiday cards and free recipient address printing on Christmas cards is also offered, which is super convenient for someone that can be a procrastinator, like me…

Not only does Basic Invite have tons of color options, but you can preview them before your purchase. You can change any element of the card with over 180 different color options so you can make sure the card is exactly how you want it down to the littlest detail.

If you want to order invitations online and use the code: 15FF51  to get 15% off your order!

Here’s some invite inspo from Basic Invite for you:

Too Late

You know those pieces that you think would look great for an event or for an outfit after it’s happened? That’s what I thought now that Christmas is well passed and I didn’t wear this top. It would’ve been the perfect Christmas top, but now it’s making its appearance as an edgy January look.

A little background of this look, and also the one before. A couple of weeks ago I planned to shoot this look and the look that was posted before this one after church. I had tried on the looks and put them in my car to shoot. Then Mason and I went downtown to shoot and we tried to shoot BOTH looks but they both turned out awful. Ever have those outfits that look good at home and terrible in the outside world? These were those.

I had some flowy pants with this look that ended up just making me look like a clown. I went home and totally changed the look, and this outfit came out to be one of my new favorite outfits. Buuuut, then I realized I probably should’ve tied the fabric behind me. Hey, it’s a new look and I made it my own.

Speaking of this top, I always love an “updated” classic top. I don’t consider myself sexy at all, but the bustier built-into the top gives a sexy and edgy feel to a classic top. Alpha & Omega has been one of my favorite new brands, new to me at least. They do such fun and chic pieces, always looking for my next piece to buy from them.

I threw on my chunky combat boots to add to that rough look and my leather jacket was a no brainer for this look.

We’ve actually had a proper few winter weeks here in Louisiana. It even snowed a few weeks ago. So, I’ve been able to wear somewhat actual winter clothes, which includes my favorite faux-fur coat. Such an oldie but goodie!

I love the layered cozy but glam feel about this look. These tights complete the layered look and these are hands down the best tights I’ve worn. I got sent these a couple of years ago and they’re so thick and opaque and haven’t ran like most tights do. I hate see through tights, so I love that these one’s are super luxe and durable!
