All Dressed Up

Talk about statement top! I honestly felt like a bride walking down the street in this top. It’s so glamorous and crisp. It’s actually light weight, so it’s perfect for a dramatic look in the summer.

I made the look more casual with my patchwork jeans, which give some contrast and kept the look light with my metallic bag and white heels.

I love every detail of this top, from the button, ruffled front, asymmetrical skirt. It’s so perfect and chic!facetune_19-06-2018-22-38-45f17039a0-7bc4-490a-bb4e-635d7bb0c98bea00bf93-fda3-4ace-88f6-91d368883b3e

Modest Swimsuits Under $100 (and not boring!)

Swimsuit season is dreadful. Not because I’m trying to get “swimsuit season” ready, but because finding a new swimsuit can be daunting. I’m not a bikini girl, I never have and never will be. But finding a one-piece, or tankini, that is modest and doesn’t show off too much of my booty, fits right, is modern & cute, and that won’t cost me too much can be exhausting. I know you can hit up places like Target or Amazon and find a one-piece, but I wanted to give you all some options of different places and styles for the summer!

Candy Stripe One-Piece ($89.50)
Lemonade Open Back One-Piece ($89.50)

Lime Ricki is perfect if you’re looking for a simple silhouette in cute and girly prints!

Kortni Jeane

Flounce Top in ‘Oranges’ ($70)
Ruffled Around Top in ‘Blue Pineapple’ ($72)

I love the different style of tankini tops that Kortni Jeane offers, they look like an everyday top! You can mix and match these tops with their different style of bottoms and in different fun prints.

Lagoon Living One-Piece ($85)
Here Comes Ruffle One-Piece ($85)

ModCloth is perfect if you’re looking for a fancier/sleek kind of one-piece.

Unique Vintage

Retro Style Navy & White Stripe ($52; featured on me)
Bettie Page Multicolor Striped Sherbet ($82)
Retro Style Alaskan Blue & White Trim Ruffled One-Piece ($66)
Vintage Style Black & White Striped Spaghetti Strap One-Piece ($48)

I just happened to stumble upon Unique Vintage while on my search for one-pieces. They honestly have the best selection if you’re looking for vintage-inspired swimsuits that still look modern. I love that their swimsuits are flattering and show off your body without being revealing.

Happy Shopping!

Pop of Purple + Getting Personal

I love sharing. Sharing my outfits and my obsessions with you guys is what I love doing.

This post was just going to be a simple post talking about this look, but when I sat down to write about the clothes, it didn’t seem authentic and there was something more serious I needed to voice.

What a week. A week that went too fast and too slow at the same time. There’s something I wanted to share with you all that I don’t talk about. This is as out of place for me as posting on a Saturday. But here I am, doing both.

I’m not sure how many of you follow me on Instagram, but if you do, you may have noticed that I haven’t posted on there in almost a week, which I haven’t done in years! It’s been that kind of week. I don’t talk a whole lot on my personal life, because honestly I don’t think my life is all that interesting, I’m a real life couch potato. I love fashion and I love that it’s my thing that can set me apart from everyone else and it’s an outlet for creativity. But I feel like I can end up hiding behind my blog. Sometimes it can be all about the clothes and I forget to take care of the person that’s underneath them. Me, Laura. I deal heavily with anxiety and a lot of people don’t know that about me. I hide it and I’m comfortable hiding it because then it means I don’t have to talk about it. Anxiety is such raw subject and it shouldn’t be played off lightly. It’s real. It sucks. It’s exhausting.

This week, my anxiety has been the most prominent it has been in a while. It’s like knowing your worst enemy is coming into town and trying to avoid them at all costs but every corner you turn, they’re there. I can honestly say stepping back and actually taking a break, no posting anywhere has really helped me. I sometimes forget that I’m the one that’s in control of myself, if that makes sense. I forget that I have the authority to say, “Laura, step back breath and just rest” and I’ve just taken time to myself this week.  Please remember to take care of yourself before anyone else.

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for. – 1 Peter 5:7
Know that there is always someone out there that cares for you and you mean so much to this world.

Yellow is obviously one of the “it” colors of the season and for good reason.

Yellow is such a cheery color while still being light and not too in your face. I love this pop of yellow paired with white for a fresh feel.

You might be thinking, ‘Laura, it’s almost 100 degrees outside and you’re wearing a sweater??’. Well…yes. I scooped this vintage Ralph Lauren top up and it’s surprisingly light for a knit and I just couldn’t resist this top with all the cool zipper and button detailing.

Everything Vintage

I’ve been on a vintage kick lately. I love looking for pieces that are perfectly vintage inspired or true vintage pieces. Well, I found the perfect vintage dress if I do say so!

There’s this one antique store downtown that I always find my vintage bags at, like the one in this post, and last weekend I popped in. The one booth I always check out had this little dress just hanging there. I scored this dress for $22! I got home and tried the dress on and it fit so perfectly.

Not sure when this dress was made, there’s no tags, and the seams on the inside look like it could possibly be homemade. It is made of super great quality which is what I love about vintage pieces. The pleats are such a sweet touch and the gold buttons are the perfect classic touch.

The only non-vintage pieces of this look is the jewelry and sunglasses, but the’re the perfect tie-in to this look!

A flouncy and airy dress just screams spring! There’s just something about wearing a flowy dress with the weather perfectly warm and a nice breeze, it’s the little things that can boost my mood!

What first attracted me to this dress was the beautiful sage color. It’s such a muted but feminine color and it pairs perfectly with the girliness of the ruffles.

The neutral shoes and bag bring out the effortless and “natural” feel of the dress.

The button-detailing adds the perfect vintage-y touch to this dress!

I love this dress dressed up with heels but I can’t wait to wear this dress with some white sneakers as well for a more casual look.
